By faith, patience and gratitude, Mel’s mission is to bless with insight and promotion. Chicago native, Meleneal Cameron is the President and Founder of CMG. She is known and respected for her business savvy and favored by many respected industry professionals. Often described as an intellectual and a trendsetter, she has developed a unique approach combining information analysis, technology, and interactive marketing in assessing the needs of indepedent artists.
Though always intrigued by music the arts and technology, it wasn't until the early 2000s when Mel’s passion grew into a plan geared toward helping brand artists with the goal of generating income for their products. Making a decision to broaden her knowledge of the music business, she founded CMG in an effort to educate artists in their career decisions within the music industry, encouraging them to be viably and financially stable on an independent level. Because she is also an artists, she relates firsthand to the vulnerability striving artists encounter, as well as the prevalent “trust issues†associated with the music industry. Everyone in the music industry certainly isn’t “Superficial†You do run into good people who want to help. And besides, everyone has a divine assignment at a given time in their life to be a blessing to someone else whether they’re considered good or bad or whether they meant to or not. The best thing one can do is to be prepared and positioned for that blessing.
She concentrates her efforts in assisting artists in being creative and unique in the industry by helping them to implement a plan that allows them to motivate consumers, fans, and business partners toward spending their two most precious commodities; their money and their time. “It’s just like any other businessâ€, says Meleneal, “You have to go about it in the same manner as if you were selling any other product or service. It’s a serious business, and I make sure that my clients understand that it’s not necessary to be "co-dependent" on the "big names" to help them get recognition. Simply understanding what steps to take will get you recognized.†Known as a hands on, proactive troubleshooter, she can rapidly identify opportunities, formulate strategic plans, and implement new and innovative processes in challenging and diverse entertainment environments.
She has assisted numerous bands, solo artists and performers from all musical genres, both signed and unsigned, with development, music production and marketing. Some of her clients include 12 Trybz and Isreal Soul, whose debut song, "Stay" recently hit Billboard's top 100 and Jamie Jones, of the multi-platinum group "All for One." She is a member of NARAS, the National of Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the CMC, the Chicago Music Commission and CIMA, the Chicago Interactive Marketing Association. In addition she serves as a Board Member for the "I Am You Foundation" where she mentors and encouranges young women to fulfill their dreams. And when asked the question if she can help an artist fulfill their dreams, her answer always is “What do you mean can I do it? Of course I can. I can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens me.â€
