My Music Production Career--How I Got Started… My name is Eric Williams -- rap name and producer name is E-Will. I am a young music producer in high school. I was born on October 26, 1992 on the Eastside of Detroit. I grew up listening to Gospel Rap & Hip Hop music. Because I fell in love with it, I started writing and producing it myself. First, I produced Gospel Rap & Hip Hop and then moved to secular Rap & Hip Hop. Today I live in Illinois near Chicago and have produced tracks for a lot of people including myself. I started out with a “Po-Man’s” studio because I didn’t have a lot of money to buy professional equipment. I modified cheap and broken stereos and kareoke machines to make recording devices out of them. I also built my own speaker boxes starting when I was about 9 years old. I made hot beats for a lot of people and, as they sold them, I was able to start buying “real studio equipment” for my studio in my basement. I then started charging about $5 an hour to let my friends record their raps to my beats. Even though my music production skills and my studio have all gotten a lot better over the years, this is pretty much where I am today—still charging small fees to produce Hip Hop music for myself and friends. I know I’m much better than this and believe that my music can be a hit in today’s music industry. My Inspiration—The Start of My Rapping Career I started my rapping career when I was about 8 years old mostly in Gospel Rap.

Around age 12, I got into secular Rap & Hip Hop. Since I was always a quiet person, people never thought I could rap. Now, after producing and sharing track after track of my own music, I get a lot of respect for my music skills from my friends, strangers and professionals in the industry. My family and friends have helped me a lot with my music over the years and I know there is a lot more for me to learn; but I am very willing to do so. Inspiration for many of my raps come from “hataz” who think they can do something but they cant and haven’t. I also love to rap about what is happening in my life. I don’t believe in rapping about things that have never happened like many fake rappers do. I take my music very seriously. My music is club banger and Hip Hop rap style. A lot of people compare me with Lil John, Lil Wyte, Project Pat saying I am a young version of each of them. Since I hate using other people’s style and samples, I create my own. I love performing in front of big crowds of people. I may be quiet but I am not a shy person at all. When I perform, I love to go crazy with my music! My goals for producing music are to be able to sell my beats to the top labels and artists and get signed to a major record deal. I have accomplished a few of my goals so far. The first was to perform in front of live audiences which I do at local parties. The other was to get my music played on local radio stations. So far my music is being played on internet radio station BMS - Southside of Chicago and soon HOT 103.9 in North Carolina.
