Personal Statement
So where to begin, i am not your college degree type of person i did not go to school for Music Entertainment Industry and i grew up in a broken home and also times of being homeless as a young adult and youth. I am from Fresno California (Birth) but lived in Houston Texas most of my life before moving to chicago in 2004. I had moved not by choice but by a situation that happened in my life and i needed a new start. Not really sure why i moved to chicago but i am here. I am not much for cold weather but the summer time beats texas heat that is for sure.
Birth of Chicago Music Promotions
When i moved to chicago i wanted to be in the Music Industry since i had worked for a nightclub in houston before moving here but i was really not sure what part of the industry i wanted to work in. I started looking online for music promotions and management companies and venues and i noticed that the music scene in chicago back years ago sort of sucked, talent did not like working with each other, there was no cross promotions for things, no marketing and branding online for talent pretty much everyone was stuck on the whole let me create a account on myspace and hopefully get noticed.
I have always been a internet nerd by nature and well did my bit of IRC / MIRC file media trading back then in the 90's so setting up a website was pretty simple for me it was not automated but it was all pure html. I had created a submission form for talent to submit music to me and i had to put everyone on my site myself back then it was really tedious and also how it worked back then was anyone i put on the site they had to donate to the site. After i had got over 3,000 music submissions in 1 month i came to the conclusion that a music website for chicago or midwest talent was a much needed thing.
Funding for Website
I had tossed this around several times over the years FREE or PAY website for talent marketing and promotions and i noticed i was doing all this work to promote talent and help them get discovered i might as well get something for my time and also for having a quality based website for talent. At first it was a monthly subscription and people had no problem paying the subscription to be on the site for promotions and also to help fund the site. When the economy took a nice giant dump and people lost jobs and housing and had to cut back on everything in there life i also thought about that so i changed the subscription rate to yearly instead of monthly. I have always been a nice person and a lot of times i tend to give people free accounts on my site even though this website is also my income. I still belive in what goes around comes around type of thing (just waiting for that still for my end). I have never been much for click ads or banner ads on my site, back when i started using the internet you were bombarded with click ads or forced ads when it came to websites and i did not want to have the same branding as them type of sites where it requires people to fill this out, install this or read that to gain access to the site to generate income for website funding.
